Acclaimed comic book writer Jeff Parker (X-Men: First Class, Batman ’66), nerdy musical trio The PDX Broadsides, and live recordings of Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men and Geek Shock podcasts are just a few of the numerous attractions worth checking out at the 11th annual Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Clark County Library (1401 E. Flamingo Road).

The diverse lineup of guests at this year’s event includes Gene Ha (Mae, Top Ten), Amy Chu (Girls Night Out, Poison Ivy), and Taneka Stotts (Déjà Brew, Full Circle), among many others. Fans can peruse comics, toys and other merchandise at the many vendor booths in the courtyard marketplace, as well as meet artists, writers and independent publishers in the Artist Alley area. Activities for all ages abound at the festival, including superhero mask-making, face painting, and the return of our popular Art Jam.
The programming lineup continues to grow and diversify, offering panel discussions with our guests, how-to sessions on assembling comic anthologies and turning ideas into comics, intimate drawing and self-publishing workshops, and much more. Highlights include a spotlight on popular YouTube channel The Hillywood Show, a look at how James Bond translates into comics, and a panel on the Oct. 1 benefit anthology, Where We Live. Several local food trucks will provide curbside snacks and libations throughout the day.
Admission to the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival is free to the public, but you can upgrade your experience by pre-registering for a VIP package. For only $7, you’ll receive a limited-edition VIP badge, swag bag filled with comics, art and other freebies donated by publishers and local businesses, and other benefits, with all proceeds benefiting the VVCBF. Registration ends Oct. 31.
